Comments on the firm's part-time policy:

The fact that no men work part-time at Milbank indicates that the firm's part-time program is likely stigamatized and not usable.

Milbank has a unique family leave policy. According to the NALP survey, "In order to assist primary caretakers with the transition from childcare responsibilities of a new child after birth or adoption to a return to work, the Firm offers such associates an option of working an abbreviated schedule for up to a maximum of two months in addition to any childcare leave. Primary caretakers can choose to work an 80% (four days per week) or 60% (three days per week) schedule during a maximum two month transition period immediately following their childcare leave but must coordinate the schedule with his or her Practice Group Leader and Director of Legal Personnel. Salaries and paid time off will be prorated to reflect the part-time arrangement. After the expiration of the two month period, the associate's fulltime status and salary will automatically be restored."

The firm has a partner coordinator for Part-Time Arrangements. According to the firm website, the Coordinator provides guidance and direction to balance the interests of the Firm and the individual.

The part time schedule is either 60% or 80% of the full time schedule.

Milbank was in the bottom 10 of firms ranked in the report, "Presumed Equal: What America's Top Women Lawyers Really Think About Their Firms," which surveyed about 16,000 women lawyers and received about 4,000 anonymous responses from women practicing in 105 law firms.
